Every meaningful intervention begins with people who choose to contribute their expertise, skills, talents, resources, technology or lived experiences. You will become part of a collaborative practice that transforms meaningful questions into immersive interventions and lasting knowledge.

Not everyone contributes in the same way. Some contribute financial support, expertise, technology and others contribute skills, lived experience, ideas and partnerships.

Together, these contributions create the conditions for communities and Collaborative Design Fellows to better understand society’s most complex challenges and build immersive interventions that create meaningful change.

Whether you choose to support a Fellowship, become a Fellow or expand access to immersive technologies, you become part of a growing collaborative practice that extends far beyond any single project.

There are three ways to contribute:

  1. Join a Collaborative Design Fellowship

Every Design Challenge requires a different constellation of perspectives.

If you believe your perspective can strengthen a Fellowship, we invite you to become part of a growing network of Collaborative Designers working alongside communities to imagine and build better futures.

Every Fellowship is an opportunity not only to contribute your expertise, but to learn from others, expand your own practice and contribute to The Codex (our living body of collective knowledge documenting every design challenge brief, collective insight report, immersive intervention, implementation toolkit, research publication and long-term reflection).

  1. Financially Support

Every Collaborative Design Fellowship brings together communities and transdisciplinary teams to collaboratively build immersive interventions that address meaningful societal challenges.

Your financial contribution enables Fellows to dedicate their time and expertise, supports community participation and transforms shared understanding into tangible XR interventions.

You are not simply funding a project. You are investing in a new way of bringing people together to understand and address society’s most complex challenges.

  1. Support Exposure Labs

Every year, thousands of XR hardware are replaced long before their potential has been exhausted.

Through Exposure Labs, XR Without Borders gives this technology a second life by redistributing donated hardware and software to communities, educational institutions, XR Labs, hackathons and emerging practitioners across the immersive ecosystem.

Supported by our international logistics partners, hardware can be donated from anywhere in the world and shipped monthly to where it can create the greatest impact.

Yesterday’s technology still has the power to inspire tomorrow’s creators.

Together, we can ensure that access not circumstance determines who gets to participate in the future of immersive technology.

Every Design Challenge requires a different constellation of perspectives.

Fellows are therefore selected not simply according to credentials or professional seniority, but according to the perspectives, expertise, lived experience and ways of knowing that a particular challenge requires.

We ask a fundamental question:

Who needs to be in the room for us to understand this challenge well?

The answer is different for every Fellowship.

No.

Technology is only one of the many perspectives a Fellowship may require.

A Collaborative Design Fellowship may bring together artists, researchers, engineers, educators, policymakers, community leaders, storytellers, psychologists, entrepreneurs, students and people whose lived experience is essential to understanding the challenge.

XR Without Borders provides the immersive technology expertise. Fellows bring the diversity of knowledge required to ensure that what we build is grounded in meaningful understanding.

Every Collaborative Design Fellowship requires time, care and resources to bring communities, Fellows and ideas together.

Individuals, foundations, institutions and organizations can financially support a specific Design Challenge or contribute to the broader work of XR Without Borders. Your support enables community participation, supports Fellows throughout the Collaborative Design process and helps transform shared understanding into tangible immersive interventions through XR and Spatial Computing.

More than 80% of every contribution is invested directly into our Fellowships and interventions. The remaining funds support the fundraising, governance, administration and public awareness necessary to responsibly sustain and grow the work.

You are not simply funding a project.

You are helping create the conditions for people to understand, imagine and build together.
